A cultural explosion called by many the “Caribbean’s Greatest Summer Festival”, Antigua Carnival provides a colorful insight into the culture of this Caribbean island. The island’s carnival officially started in 1957 and is held annually in celebration of the Emancipation of slavery.
This energetic carnival features a jammed pack line up of events over multiple days. Patrons can enjoy popular events like the Jaycees Caribbean Queen Show, the Calypso Monarch and Panorama competitions, Emancipation Watch Night Celebrations, J’ouvert with the schedule culminating in the Parade of the Bands on August 2nd. Lots of pre-carnival events are scheduled.
